About Andi & Kristia

Hi! We're Andi and Kristia, the owners of The Burrow Bookstore!

We live in Leeds, Alabama, and between the two of us, we have two husbands, six little boys, four dogs, five cats, and an ever-changing assortment of creatures that one of our boys has decided need a home.

Meanwhile, we're over here living our best lives with some of our best girlfriends, surrounded by books, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos, running an adorable little independent bookstore on Main Street in the cutest little town. Seriously, Hallmark has nothing on us.

So, how did we get here?

Well, that's actually a pretty funny story. Andi and Kristia are ten years apart in age, but as it turns out, their lives had been crossing paths for years before they ever became friends.

Despite not knowing each other or even growing up in the same city, they attended the same university, majored in the exact same field (which, for the record, had absolutely nothing to do with running a bookstore), and graduated a decade apart. Kristia went on to earn her MEd in Mental Health Counseling, so she actually left the university just a few years before Andi arrived.

Fast forward several years, and they both had baby boys just a few years apart. Kristia even ordered cloth diapers from Andi's business, The Crunchy Bean, without having the slightest idea who she was. A few years later, their boys ended up playing soccer together. Then Andi taught preschool at the same school Kristia's twins attended. And just when you'd think their paths had crossed enough, their younger boys ended up on the soccer field together, too.

By this point, they definitely knew of each other. They were acquaintances, always waved hello, had mutual friends, attended the same events, and occasionally found themselves sitting around the same dinner tables.

Then Andi opened a bookstore, and Kristia, with visions of quiet afternoons spent reading in a cozy little bookshop, offered to come work just one shift a week.

And, well… here we are. Somewhere along the way, that one shift a week turned into a whole lot more, and two women who had spent years orbiting each other's lives became pretty much inseparable. Turns out, all it took was a decade, a small liberal arts university, some cloth diapers, a few soccer games, preschool, some mutual friends, and a bookstore.

Why The Burrow?

Inspired by The Burrow in the Harry Potter series, our bookstore is designed to feel warm, welcoming, and wonderfully eclectic. We want it to be the kind of place that feels like home—a place where you can slow down, relax, and stay awhile.

We believe bookstores are about more than the books on their shelves. They're about the people who walk through the door, the friendships that are made, the conversations that turn strangers into friends, and the comfort of finding a place where you feel like you belong. We want The Burrow to be a place where you can escape the noise of the world for a little while and just be exactly who you are. We want it to be your Third Place because we know that sometimes, what someone needs most isn't another book. It's a place that says, without ever having to say the words, Come as you are. You're already enough and we're so glad you're here.

Of course, if you leave with a book (or twelve), we're certainly not going to stop you.

The People Behind the Pages

We're a little quirky, occasionally ridiculous, and probably having way too much fun for people who are supposed to be working. But we make an incredible team and we wouldn't have it any other way. And whether you're part of our team or just stopping in for a book, there's always room for one more in our story.
